About Me
Hello, I’m Charlie. I am a recent graduate of Purdue University, majoring in studio arts and technology with a concentration in photography. For most of my life, I have been photographing nature and wildlife, but recently shifted my focus to sports photography and photojournalism. I most recently worked full-time as the Photo & Video Editor at The Purdue Exponent, the independent student newspaper at Purdue. As the Photo & Video editor, I managed the Photos Desk, comprised of over 20 staff photographers. Along with the behind-the-scenes organization of the desk, I covered stories of a wide variety of topics, from campus news to breaking news to NCAA sporting events.
Notable Work
As the previous Photo & Video Editor of The Purdue Exponent, I have had the opportunity to cover many important events that have reached national audiences.

Indiana Daily Student Solidarity Edition
In October 2025, after Indiana University fired Director of Student Media Jim Rodenbush and revoked the Indiana Daily Student's ability to print it's scheduled newspaper,The Purdue Exponent printed and distributed over 3,000 copies of a Solidarity Edition featuring editorials from IDS Co-editor-in-Chiefs and articles from IDS alumni and Exponent writers. My photo of the statue of Ernie Pyle - the Pulitzer Prize–winning WWII journalist and Indiana University alumnus - holding The Purdue Exponent IDS Solidarity Edition was featured on MSNOW’s The 11th Hour with Stephanie Ruhle, as the situation escalated into a national media story, underscoring the broader implications for student press freedom covered by the First Amendment.
All-Boilermaker Suborbital Space Flight
In September 2025, Purdue University announced Purdue 1, an all-Boilermaker crewed suborbital space flight set to launch in 2027. Leading the Purdue 1 mission, aeronautical and astronautical engineering professor Dr. Steven Collicott (right) will be joined by AAE graduate student Abigail Mizzi, (middle) and an engineering alumnus, Jason Williamson (left). A copy of The Purdue Exponent's front page edition featuring the announcement and my photo of the crew will accompany them on their flight.
On October 16, 2025, the Purdue University Volleyball team defeated Indiana University at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, the home of the Indiana Fever and Pacers. This historic event marked the first time a collegiate volleyball match was played in a professional basketball arena.
